This page is maintained by the AI Reply for WhatsApp Web team to explain how the AI Reply for WhatsApp Web Chrome extension (the "Extension") handles data. This is app-owned content, not independent verification of any certification.
1. What the Extension does
The Extension runs on
web.whatsapp.com and adds an "AI Reply" button that reads the currently open conversation to suggest a reply in your chosen tone and language. It also offers a "Rephrase" mode that polishes text you have typed yourself, an optional Insights panel that summarizes the conversation, and an optional business setup step that can import public information from a website address you enter.2. Data the Extension processes
- Message text from the currently open WhatsApp Web conversation (or text you type in the composer) — sent to our backend, and from there to the configured AI provider, only when you click an AI action such as Reply, Rephrase or Insights. This text is processed to generate the response and may be kept in short-lived request logs used for abuse prevention and debugging.
- Website / business information — only if you use the optional website-import feature. You enter a website address; our backend fetches the publicly accessible pages of that site and an AI model summarizes them into a business profile used to personalize your replies. No login-protected or private pages are accessed.
- Random device ID (UUID generated on your device) — kept in local browser storage only, used for rate-limiting.
- Your preferences — persona description, business profile, company knowledge, tone, language, global rules. Stored in
chrome.storage.localon your device. They are included in the request sent to the AI provider when you generate a reply, so replies stay on-brand.
3. Data the Extension does NOT collect
- Your WhatsApp phone number, contacts, or profile.
- Media, images, voice notes, or attachments.
- Passwords, credentials, or payment information.
- Browsing history outside
web.whatsapp.com. - Analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising identifiers.
4. Third-party processors
To generate AI content, the request is forwarded from our backend to large-language-model providers. The models currently used are Google Gemini and OpenAI GPT, accessed through the Lovable AI Gateway. These providers process the request to produce the response under their API terms, which do not permit using API content for model training.
5. Storage and retention
Preferences and the random device ID live only in your browser and are cleared when you uninstall the Extension or clear extension storage. Backend request logs are retained for up to 30 days for abuse prevention and are then deleted.
6. Permissions justification
The current build requests only these permissions:
- storage — save your persona, business profile and settings locally.
- Host: web.whatsapp.com — the declarative content script mounts the AI Reply UI only on WhatsApp Web.
- Host: webstrox-ai-pilot.lovable.app — our backend that proxies AI requests and the optional website import.
7. Your controls
You can uninstall the Extension at any time from
chrome://extensions. To delete stored preferences, use the extension's Options page or remove the Extension. To request deletion of any backend logs associated with your random device ID, contact us at vipusa8400@gmail.com.8. Children
The Extension is not directed at children under 13.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
